Flowers are gods way of showing off.  They're more beautiful than they need to be which is rare in nature.

Little Redfish Lake
What a beautiful photo this is. I was in position and set up with well over an hour until the actual sunrise would happen. I shot dozens of photos as the sun rose further and further, with light peaking over the mountains behind me and lighting the Western Mountain tops and coming closer and closer to reaching the hills on the far side of Little Redfish Lake.
Finally, perfection. The trees on the hills are silhouetted against the brightly lit mountains. There is a light skiff of fog rising from the lake’s waters near the far side. The bright red fall foliage in the lower left had corner is beautiful and the reflection is perfect in the absolutely still waters of the lake.
About a minute later, the light started hit the treetops on the hills and the beauty of the moment was gone. What a fun morning!
BATTLE SCARED HERO
I spotted this magnificent Big Horn Ram as we were leaving Red Rock Canyon, near Las Vegas, Nevada. He was grazing on the far side of the highway we were on and I asked the driver to pull over. I had never seen a big horn so up close, and this one was clearly an unusual specimen. I took up a position at the right rear side of the car so that I had the car between us. This will be shown to have been a wise choice of shooting location.
In the photos I got of him walking parallel to the road, I can see that his right eye is fine, it is just hidden behind the growth in front of his right eye. It did not take him long to see me and to start walking towards me. I was admiring the scars on his nose and face, and the broken places on his horns. As he got closer and closer, I found myself liking, but not trusting, his seeming smile. Finally, at about eight and a half yards, I let good sense speak louder than a possible mistaken translation of his facial expression. He could be smiling about how good it is going to feel kicking my behind… I took this last image and took the three steps necessary to get back into the car and asked the driver to depart
